Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using SpinYourWheel, random choice generation, name lists, privacy, and feature usage.
1.What is SpinYourWheel?
SpinYourWheel is a free online random wheel spinner and name picker. It allows you to enter custom lists of names, choices, or numbers and spin a visual wheel to make fair, random selections.
2.How does the wheel of names work?
When you click Spin, SpinYourWheel calculates a random outcome slice using mathematically fair pseudo-random number generation (PRNG). The wheel rotates through realistic physics-based deceleration to land on the chosen winner.
3.How do I add names?
You can type names individually into the single entry input field and press Enter, or click Bulk Edit / Bulk Mode to paste an entire list of names separated by line breaks all at once.
4.Can I add multiple choices?
Yes! You can add as many choices or names as you need. The wheel dynamically adjusts segment angles and colors to fit all your entries seamlessly.
5.Can I use SpinYourWheel for classroom activities?
Absolutely. Teachers use SpinYourWheel for selecting students for reading, answering questions, assigning classroom jobs, dividing students into study groups, or playing review games.
6.Can I use it for giveaways?
Yes! SpinYourWheel is ideal for prize drawings, social media giveaways, and contest winner selections. You can stream or share your screen live to present an auditable, transparent draw.
7.Can I use it to randomly select a winner?
Yes. Once the wheel completes its rotation, a pop-up dialog announces the selected winner with celebratory confetti animations.
8.Can I create a random team?
Yes. You can use our Classroom / Team Generator tool mode to draw names consecutively and group students or colleagues into randomized teams.
9.Can I remove a winner after spinning?
Yes! When a winner is chosen, the result modal gives you a 'Remove Winner' button so you can take that name off the wheel and spin again for remaining participants without duplicates.
10.Can I import a list?
Yes. Click the 'Import' button in the wheel control toolbar to upload any plain text (.txt) file containing your list of items.
